I learned so much from this session about how classes can engage in active reconciliation, rather than just learning about past wrongs. This distinction is crucial when teaching heavy, upsetting topics like residential schools. Without a path forward, we risk leaving students feeling frozen in sadness and shame. Acknowledging that painful history is necessary, but empowering students with meaningful acts of reconciliation helps to show them that they too can make a difference. It was also wonderful to hear that the Project of Heart book is also available in French.
